We are currently for the following positions to be filled:
- Firefighters
- Emergency Medical Responders
- Fire Truck and Pump Operators/Drivers

Come to the hall on a Thursday ( 7pm-9pm) or Sunday (10am-12pm) if you would like a tour of the department and to discuss becoming a volunteer!
Benefits and Information
- No previous experience is necessary to become a volunteer firefighter
- We provide training to professional standards (NFPA 1001 Firefighter I&II) pro-board certification
- Paid Compensation for response, training and practice.
- No out-of-pocket expenses.
- Volunteer firefighters receive insurance coverage through WorkSafe BC
- Tax Credit for Volunteer Firefighters
Basic Requirements
- Reside/Work within or near to the Malahat Fire Protection Area (Map)
- 19 years of age or older
- Enquire about our Junior Firefighter Program if under 19
- Healthy, Mentally and physically fit (medical and fitness screening may be required)
- Of good character with no Criminal Record (Police Information Check required)
- Valid and Class 5 or Class 3 B.C. Driver’s License with clean abstract
Time Commitment
- Weekly Evening Training ( Thursday 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm )
- Alternating Duty-Crew Weekends ( Sunday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm )
- Minimum of 200 hours per year required for tax credit requirements
